Description: This is a lovely long stretch of classic brown trout water that may also produce the odd grayling. It comprises a number of pools and deep runs that largely flow through open meadows. The River Lew contains a good head of brownies to around 15”+ and it clears quickly after a spate. Good dry fly water suited to a shorter 7-8ft fly rod. It had a productive year in 2012 producing 84 brown trout to 9”, largely on dry fly.
Restrictions: Fly only. All trout under 8” must be returned, no more than 2 trout to be retained per day. Please return all grayling. Sorry, no dogs. Please note this is an Arundell Arms Hotel beat and there is no token box - please deposit tokens and catch returns at the Hotel Reception (8am - 9pm) which is in the nearby village of Lifton. NB. The ‘Cockpit’ is open for tackle sales and advice 9-10am & 6.30-7pm, day rods are also available on the Hotel’s water.
