Westcountry Angling Passport
The Dairy House Fishery - River Frome

A new beat 2012, this fishery is the most easterly Passport beat so far and takes us into Chalk Stream country good and proper.

This is chalkstream paradise with a central fishing hut and circular path around the main river. It's a great beat to fly fish with friends, the fishing hut is next to a pretty bridge pool with plenty of room to relax and enjoy lunch with a glass of wine.

The beat makes up around 1300m of exciting and challenging fly fishing comprising main river and a section of feeder stream. A great variation of fishing opportunities exist including riffles, pools, plenty of glides and overhanging trees. These combine for great sight fishing in the crystal clear water.

This fishing is for totally wild fish and has never been stocked; it is fishable from the mown path although you may also wade with care.

You’ll enjoy exciting and challenging fishing on this beat, a haven of perfect chalk stream conditions surrounded by stunning scenery. A number of anglers did wet a line in 2013 with a number of wild brown trout and sizeable grayling recorded.

An iGhillie film clip for the beat can be viewed at westcountryangling.com – ighillie virtual fishing guide (third item down on menu).
