Westcountry Angling Passport

Guides & Tuition

If you are new to fishing in the Westcountry, a particular river or style of fishing we strongly recommend you get a guide (or ghillie) for the day.  There are loads of excellent guides operating across the region and they will really help you unlock the secrets to a great day out and hopefullly make sure you connect to a few fish.

First decide where you want to fish or type of fishing you want to do, then have a look at some of the Guides we have recommended – you can then visit their websites or give them a call (we list telephone number wherever possible) and have chat about what you want to get out of your day.  If you are uncertain about where to fish, they can help point you in the right direction and many can plan all you need including tickets, EA licences, tackle etc. We do also recommend that you get a Guide who has got the necessary qaulifications – this way you know that they have insurance, first aid qaulifications etc.

Many a time anglers have called the Trust to say that they wished that they had got Guide before venturing onto one of the Passport beats for the first time as this would have saved them time and money, so even if you get a Guide for a few hours it can prove invaluable to your fishing.
